Festive season orders, planned before the season starts.
Raya, year end, Deepavali, Chinese New Year and Christmas. The product is the easy part. The slot is what runs out.
Why festive season orders behave differently
For most of the year, capacity is not the constraint. In festive weeks it is the only constraint. Every corporate gifting programme, every hotel hamper, every office celebration and every family gathering lands inside the same fortnight, and no kitchen in the country has slack in it.
That changes what a supplier can honestly promise. Outside the season we can usually work around a late request. Inside it, a slot that has gone cannot be recreated, and a supplier who says otherwise is either holding stock made weeks earlier or is about to disappoint somebody. We would rather tell you no in January than fail you in the week itself.
Capacity, not stock
Nothing is pre-made and stored, so the limit is production time.
First confirmed, first scheduled
A quote holds nothing. Acceptance is what books the slot.
Earlier than feels sensible
Set your own deadline ahead of the one you think you need.
The seasons we plan around
Four peaks in the Malaysian calendar. Each one has a different buyer behind it and a different thing that goes wrong.
Ramadan and Raya
The largest by a distance, and the one where corporate gifting, hotel programmes and family orders all peak together. Raya corporate gifts in particular need deciding well before Ramadan begins, because the packaging conversation and the production slot both sit ahead of the date rather than near it.
Year end and office season
December brings appreciation gifts, staff celebrations and client hampers, usually ordered by the same people who are also closing a financial year. Decide the quantity early even if you revise it later. Adjusting a confirmed number is far easier than creating a slot in the last fortnight.
Chinese New Year
Corporate gifting and hospitality demand rise together, and the working days available before the date are fewer than the calendar suggests once you account for the run-up. Ordering here is usually about lead time rather than volume.
Deepavali and Christmas
Smaller in volume but often more specific in presentation, because the gift usually carries a company name or a personal note. Anything branded needs its packaging finalised long before production. Private label and OEM
Who orders in these weeks
Four kinds of buyer, and what each one usually gets wrong.
Companies gifting staff or clients
The most common mistake is waiting for a final headcount. Give us the number you are working to now and revise it. Waiting for certainty is how the slot disappears while you are being careful.
Hotels
Festive hampers and amenity programmes compete with your own busiest service weeks. Lock the specification early so the reorder is administrative rather than a fresh approval. Hotel supply
Caterers and event companies
Your dates are fixed and stacked. Tell us the whole season at once rather than event by event, and we can schedule the run properly instead of competing with your own other bookings.
Families and community groups
Kenduri, open houses and surau gatherings. You are ordering against the same capacity as the corporate buyers, so the same advice applies even though the quantity is smaller.
Which product survives a festive table
Open houses and family gatherings run for hours, often with doors open and air conditioning losing. That is the hardest condition we produce for. The Dubai Chewy needs no chilling and holds better at ambient temperature over a long afternoon, which makes it the safer specification for anything displayed rather than handed over.
Kunafa Pistachio Chocolate Bar has more impact at the moment it is opened, so it suits gifts that leave with the guest, corporate hampers and anything going home unopened. Most festive orders end up wanting both, and both on one delivery is one quote and one arrival rather than two suppliers to chase in the busiest week of your year.
How to plan a festive order backwards
Start from the day it is handed over
Not the day of the festival. If gifts go out at an office lunch a week before Raya, that lunch is your date, and everything schedules backwards from it.
Add the packaging timeline if it is branded
Nothing can be packed until branded packaging physically exists. This is the single most common cause of a missed festive date, and it sits on your side of the schedule.
Then add the production slot
Which is the part that runs out. Confirm it as early as you can bear to, because a quote reserves nothing. The ordering process
Ask us for the cut-off
Order deadlines for each season are given when you enquire, because they move with the calendar each year. Ask early and we will tell you the honest last date rather than an optimistic one. Frequently asked questions
Ask about the season you are planning
Tell us which season, roughly how many, and whether it needs to carry your name. We will tell you the cut-off date for that season and whether the slot you want still exists.
